Tom Hunt MP visits IJYI office

Tom Hunt MP

Today (Tue 4th Aug) Tom Hunt MPCllr Liz Harsant and Robbie Hosking visited the IJYI Ipswich office to understand more around what we do and to share knowledge and insight.

Chris Pont (CEO) and Kevin Linsell (Sales & Marketing Director) hosted the visit, supported remotely by the wider IJYI team (including Robyne Birkby, Justin Grainger, Alan Jackson and Tim Naish).

Over the course of 1.5hrs the discussion covered

  • History of IJYI
  • What we do & How
  • Our Clients
  • Local Investment in people, partners and the community
  • Recent successes and Demo’s

Education and investing in local talent

Tom is on the education select committee so was very interested to understand the challenges around attracting and retaining talent in Ipswich.  IJYI is proud that so many of our staff have been with us since the early days and how as an organisation we are involved in local initiatives to help excite people about a career in technology.

Areas such as Creative Computing Club and the CoderDojo with Ipswich Library (next event the 20th Aug) were discussed in the context of the potential of getting more technology being taught in schools, earlier on, and how the educational committee plays a part in that goal.

The Covid Factor

Of course the conversation turned to Covid19 and it’s impact on IJYI and our customers.   We were delighted to talk through some recent projects that had been won, delivered and celebrated during lockdown.

We were able to work very effectively during lockdown with our existing technology.   We have had to furlough some staff but are now seeing the market improving with several new and exciting projects being signed.

To support our knowledge and insight of the “new normal” we discussed the campaign we are running, that starts with a survey (available here) and will follow with analysis, technical articles, online webinars and more.

To Conclude

It was a great privilege to have Tom and team visit the office, spend the time to learn more about what we do, and share some insight into their roles.

We look forward to hosting again to demonstrate some more fantastic customer projects and talk more about the growth of Ipswich technology businesses.

Ready to start delivering something amazing?
