Tell us about your role – what does it involve?

My role involves managing a team of developers alongside getting involved in doing some development myself. I also get involved in many other stages of a project, and together with the other teams, I try to utilise my technical knowledge and experience to help enable the smooth delivery of work.

 

IJYI has a flexible and remote working policy - how do you make that work for you?

The fact that IJYI is so flexible with the remote working policy means that I can choose what is best for me and my current workload. I try to ensure I get into the office every week as it sometimes feels more fluid to jump into a meeting room and work through some planning or crowd around a whiteboard to solve a difficult problem. However, working from home is also made easy, and everyone in the company is never more than a call away.

 

What do you most enjoy about your job?

I enjoy the challenge and the freshness of projects that IJYI take on. Every new project is a chance to interact with some of the newest and most interesting technologies, it’s rarely a dull day!

 

How would you describe the company culture at IJYI?

Employee well-being is a really high priority at IJYI, and that applies to both health and personal development. When people ask ‘how are you doing?’ it extends beyond the usual work-based enquiries. There is also a great culture of allowing people and ideas to grow, everything is considered and helped along if it’s deemed to have merit.

 

Is there anything you do to de-stress at work?

Grabbing a hot drink and/or stretching my legs is often a good way to just hit pause for a moment. It’s also when the solutions to problems often choose to pop into my head, which may have eluded me while I’ve been sitting at my desk racking my brains!
